FYK, I already tried a Google Market apk from XDAdev, but it didn't work and it finally turned out that some other packages are missing which are required to make Market&friends work.

So, it's not just about installing a proper Market apk, you gotta resolve package dependencies...
i would love to do it, but unfortunetly my prs t1 is a present, i was only using it before to make sure it was working so atm i am unable to do anything with it. yea i understand what your saying. im just saying its doable and i have managed to get google market on a tablet before that wasnt compatible at first, but that was quite a while ago. just need to dig out all the reading material i used before and maybe i can put some instructions together but again i am unable to test it.

edit: has anyone tried installing comicrack free yet? if so does it work? thanks

contact app?

Hello, I just hacked my reader, adn it appears as though the contacts app from droid doesnt work. If so, does anyone know of another contact manager app that would allow me to store contact information for friends?

Thanks.

The Google ID sync stuff is broken on the T1, so Calendar, Contact, Market will not work.

A fix will be hopefully published in the wiki when available.

Here's the link: https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/PRST...ing_and_Tweaks

Please help to add apps that are proven to work!

Just a note regarding Google Market: it might work actually with the following workaround:

https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/PRST...ket_Workaround

I just haven't found the time to try that yet...

Also, I corrected the link to Advanced Task Manager: https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/PRST...s#System_Tools

Hi!

Reading this(these) threads had me salivating about getting a PRS T1. I do have one inquiry. Did anyone try installing an offline wikipedia on it? Like WikiDroyd? If that's possible, this device could be all I need to leave my computer at the office when I go work in libraries

I just installed WikiDroyd. It works if you have enough space for the offline databases which require several Gigabytes. However, you have to scroll down while reading which is painful due to flickering and lagging of the eink screen.

Thanks! Too bad for the flickering though, maybe they'll add an option for page down/up at some point...

Thanks again for trying it out

The biggest benefits for rooting the T1 for me are the following apps:

http://www.irealb.com/
https://market.android.com/details?i...ader.olivetree
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.amazon.kindle

Kindle has a page turn feature without animation - just click on lower left or right corner. Also, you can turn pages via button remap of page buttons to space bar.

I just found a great TaskSwitcher, which give me a very comforable way of multitasking on my rooted T1:

https://market.android.com/details?i...o.taskswitcher

Single press on home button -> show all running and recently used apps, double press -> Home screen

AWD Launcher is my default Home screen app. I put a link to Sony Homescreen on the desktop.

There's no need for Bar Shortcut anymore.

I am thinking about buying a T1 and then rooting it.
Is there any app where i can highlight text and then export all highlights and then can see this highlights again on a reader app on a desktop computer?

The Sony reader does this by default.

i was wondering if someone can give a few lines of description on the top 3-5 apps for the T! . I haven't rooted mine and am wondering if i should . As example many have mentioned "coolreader" - what is it , what are its benefits etc. i did do a quick google serach and couldn't quickly find its purpose in life.
Thanks in advance for your help.

My apps list

Firstly, thanks to Rupor for his great rooting kit

I've managed to squeeze a lot of my favourite apps onto my reader:

aCalendar
Amazon Kindle
BBC News (the best BBC news reader - great in landscape mode)
ConvertPad
Crossword Solver
DiskUsage
K9 emailer
Market (the version from the wiki https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/PRST...rket_Procedure)
Poweramp
RealCalc
Root Explorer
Rotation Locker
Scrabble Helper
Smart Bar (the version from this thread - the latest says it's incompatible on Play Store)
Terminal Emulator (vital for running fix_persmissions)
Titanium Backup Pro (although batch scenarios listing text doesn't not show)
Tube Master (London Underground status app)
Wikidroid
Wordplay (surprisingly playable on the eInk screen)

All you need for proper day to day use Just missing a contacts viewer.

As an owner of an HTC Desire HD and an Asus Transformer, getting battery run times of more than a week with my Sony is pretty jaw dropping Shows it is the screen and data sync that burns the juice with Android, not the underlying OS.

I've owned every model of Sony eReader since the 505 and was still carrying my 650 around due to screen readability and battery life, but this ability to run apps on my shiny new PRS-T1 is a real game changer for me. Back to just carrying my Sony around
