Mod or Hack for side loading?

I got a nook for christmas and have been creating a library on caliber to move to my nook. I am up to around 4000 books. I have put some on my nook and have run into a problem. That is the synopsis don't load with the book. I understand that is because the nook does not support that.

So, is there a mod or hack I can preform on my nook to allow it to see the synopsis of the side loaded books?

I have created a book in Caliber that has a description of all my books, but the file gets a little unwieldy. And I don't want to open that to see if I want to read a particular book.

Edit: also, is there a hack or mod to make the use of shelves easier? It will take months for me to move each book to a shelf.

Look at softrooting as a solution to getting more access to your books. You will have problems with the number of titles you have when it comes to sorting. The Nook firmware had a limit of 1275 titles prior to 1.5. I have not yet seen what the limit is with 1.5.

NookLibrary had a limit of 3000 or so with 1.3 and supposedly increased this with 1.4.

You will need to look here to start.

Is this before an SD card? I have a 16gb microsdhc card in it. I hope I can put all the book on there.

I was looking over the softroot. I can't seem to figure out if it will do what I want. Can I softroot the nook, use the nooklibrary and have my synopsis loaded from caliber onto the micrsdhc card and have them show up when I click on info?

This is one of the ironic aspects of the huge sizes available for SD cards; the limits are due to software memory sizes. So, even with the large cards available, we can only actually use about 5% of the available space for books. B&N's limit of 1275 is ridiculous, especially as it could be much larger if they had bothered to make the effort.

I am not really sure what softrooting will do for all the content you want to see from Calibre. Hopefully someone here has tried this and can tell you.

If you wanted to tell me what you are doing specifically, I can try it with Calibre and see what my info screen shows.

I have already moved a few books (about 200) to my nook with caliber. All it tells me in the info is the location and size of the file.

I am still not clear what you are looking for as you assume I use Calibre for adding books to my Nook, anyway, when I grab a Guttenberg epub and run it through Calibre, adding some comments in the "edit metadata" section, I can see everything I added as well as location and author and keywords and cover. When I look at a purchased title, I can see an entire synopsis of the book. So, you see location, author, cover, and whatever is in the comments section of the metadata. This is with nookLibrary 1.3; 1.4 may add something. Hope this helps.

If I get a guttenerg book, put it in calibre and edit the metadata date to contain the synopsis and load it to my nook. I don't get the synopsis. Just the Title, Author, publisher, publication date, File Path and File Size.

I have not softrooted this. it is with version 1.5 from BN. It came with 1.5 so I am unsure if I can even softroot it. Have you rooted yours? If so, when you add to the "comments" section of the metadata does it show up?

Yes mine is rooted, that was the whole point to get the improvements over the standard B&N file system. And yes, as I said above, I get everything I added to the comments section. And yes, even though I didn't need to do so using the newer method, from my understanding, you can softroot it.

I would place a new post with your serial number and get some feedback from someone who had gone through the process with a device that came new with the 1.5 firmware. My assumption is that you will have to use the new method which is way more complex.
