Whispernet access from shell
Hi all
It shouldn't be too hard to set up a job on a server to grab rss feeds, and format these such that the kindle can understand them, there seem to be utilities to do this, or one could use @free.kindle.com. I could, browse these feeds using the web browser over the 3g connection, but wouldn't it be great if one could set up a script to get these files, without having to engage in the tedium of downloading them over the web browser? So, one can access the Whispernet from the shell on ppp0, the only locations able to be accessed being *.amazon.com and *.amazon.co.uk The busybox wget seems to have a little trouble with the --header argument, so I am using curl. I have however had little luck in getting anything from outside of Amazon. And it goes without saying that this script is only intended to download files that could be downloaded with the browser, and would of course use less bandwidth that me browsing to my server to get them. Thanks, Joe. Last edited by Jophish; 01-08-2011 at 07:08 AM. |
