Beautiful Disaster, Devoured or Thoughtless? I have literally been reading Thoughtless all afternoon [housework? what? LOL], it's not at all what I thought it would be, but I'm just hooked so deeply into this book. Have a feeling I'll be reading into the wee hours tonight too. Gah, then I'll want to start the second book tomorrow...

Sorry, Beautiful Disaster. Haven't looked at the others closely (have to go thru some of the authors on my watch list and see if there are any I can fill in the series for).

It's one of my favorite books of all times.
Spoiler:

They are young though! She's just turned 19 and he I think just turn 21. It's a Friends to Lovers story. They are not perfect in any way and Travis is really a bad boy but he loved Abby so much he just doesn't know what to do with himself. He's been abused pretty much his whole life so he doesn't know any other way to deal with his anger problem but with his fists. She has a real crappy father so she's had to take care of herself for a long time. She's trying to reinvent herself and he just wants her as she is. It's a volatile mix those two which is where the name of the book comes in but I enjoyed their story so much!

I'm guessing you read A Mighty Storm as well then? That was my first book into NA. I'm not sure it can be classified as NA but I love that book alot. I can't wait for the sequel.

Yes, LOVED it! Can't wait for June for Wethering the Storm!

I just went thru my read pile, can't find anything else regarding rock stars that you might like. If you were tempted to try Back Stage Pass by Olivia Cunning, and/or Rock the Heart by Michelle Valentine, I would pass. JMO but I did not enjoy either of them at all. BSP was basically porn, RcH was a total and poor imitation of A Mighty Storm.

Now, off to search for my freebies/deals of the day and get back to Thoughtless series.

Yeah I hear you! I spent way more than I usually do, but I'd been waiting on some, and just took a chance on a couple more.

Re: Koland and Beautiful Disaster, yes, I agree, it seems to be one of those series that's a love/hate thing. I had it as a 1 star, but I see Blossom loved it. This is why I am so hesitant to recommend books, some we all seem to like, others not. I know for myself I'm very careful with my spending and I hate to have people waste their money on something I've recommended and they hate it. But that's the way it goes sometimes!

Ah don't worry about that. The buyer always should read the synopsis of the book and a sample before buying. We all have different taste in books but word of mouth is the best way to take a second look at something. You see BD hit me because I have a thing for a scarred hero. I don't like my heroes perfect. Travis broke my heart because I know what he came from being abused most of his life then finding Abby. I also thought his traits reminded me of some Shifter heroes I've read in the past. I thought it was brilliant to see those traits on a human for a change. I agree it's a love or hate series.

We all can't love the same books and I think we know it's a risk anytime we buy a book. Example I am reading The Windflower by Laura London. Everyone says this is the greatest romance in their reviews. I've been told many times you got to read this! A few month ago someone here offered to loan it to me. I declined because it's a very expensive book. Well I found a very ratty copy on eBay for $8 and I am so glad I didn't pay more than that. I got two more chapters to go and well I think it's just an okay story nothing special. I don't find the romance believable between the h/h. Stockholm Syndrome isn't even believable at this point. He was just too in the background for them to develop anything between them. The only reason I keep reading is because of Cat. He breaks my heart and to find his story was never written! Cat is the most unusual male character I've come across in a romance story. I fell in love with him. Devon can jump in the ocean. Merry is too good for him. I found the love scenes very awkwardly written. Only because of Cat will it get 3 stars from me.

Back Stage Pass I own but leery of reading because I am afraid I will like it and the other books in the series are not M/F romance and I'm not into menages or M/M romance. I got it for free a couple years back. I do read Erotic Romance but only the M/F kind.

I can get Rock the Heart from Lendle so I may look at it. I don't mind copy cat books. I see Thoughtless has you hooked!

I'm with Blossom on this ["We all have different taste in books but word of mouth is the best way to take a second look at something."], so recommend away. I never use the recommendation engines of the bookstores I shop at (or Goodreads for that matter) but I love getting honest recs from people whose reading tastes are similar to mine. I won't always like everything but, like Blossom said, it's a risk we take every time we buy a book. With Amazon's acquisition of Goodreads, genuine recommendations will become even more important to me, so I'm building up my sources. In addition to this thread and my friends at Goodreads (and the few people I follow there), I also like the Dear Author blog because just about everyone there (reviewers and commenters) is just so passionate about books and reading.

On that note, I just got a price drop notice that If You Stay has just gone down to $0.99 (from $3.99). It's new adult and since I'm on an NA mini-binge, I'll pick it up. At that price, it won't hurt too much if it's awful, right?

I got Backstage Pass when it was free as well, and thought it was a fun book. The next one is m/f as well, but not as good in my opinion, so I haven't read any more than those two. There's no problem reading just the first, unless you feel that you have to finish a series you start

I follow DA but Jane and I have different tastes most of the time. There are a few reviewers on there though that has similar taste. I also enjoy Sarah's Blog Smart B!tches Trashy Books, For NA nothing beats Maryse's Book Blog and The Boyfriend Bookmark.

I agree. I'm worried about how the reviews are going to change on Goodreads. Most Amazon reviews are Fake. Some are on GR too but you can easily weed those out.

Kindle Romance Deal of the Day $1.99

The Duchess War (The Brothers Sinister) by Courtney Milan
Note: Someone on here recommended her books.
She use to write for Harlequin.

Quote:
Miss Minerva Lane is a quiet, bespectacled wallflower, and she wants to keep it that way. After all, the last time she was the center of attention, it ended badly--so badly that she changed her name to escape her scandalous past. Wallflowers may not be the prettiest of blooms, but at least they don't get trampled. So when a handsome duke comes to town, the last thing she wants is his attention.

But that is precisely what she gets.

Because Robert Blaisdell, the Duke of Clermont, is not fooled. When Minnie figures out what he's up to, he realizes there is more to her than her spectacles and her quiet ways. And he's determined to lay her every secret bare before she can discover his. But this time, one shy miss may prove to be more than his match...

The Duchess War is the first full-length book (97,000 words) in the Brothers Sinister series. It is preceded by The Governess Affair, a prequel novella, and followed by A Kiss for Midwinter. Each book stands alone, but those who prefer to read in order might want to read that book first.

Thanks for the blog recs! For NA, I recently starting following Aestas Book Blog.

Over at DA, Jane's tastes are most similar to mine (not everything though, as I don't read M/M or menage). Funny enough, The Mighty Storm was just one out of two books that I can remember Jane reviewing favorably that I picked up and didn't like.
