Book I didn't buy is in my library

This book:

Appeared in my library. It's apparently $4.99, but my credit card has not been charged for it, I received no email from Kobo, and it isn't listed in my "Purchase History" on the website. The "Date Purchased" when viewing my Library screen is September 8th. That's yesterday.

What happened?

Is it the whole book or just a preview version would be my first thought?

That is a free book. I don't remember what the trigger was for receiving it but it may have been the installation of the Android Kobo App.

I received this book as well about 6 weeks ago. I was never billed and decided that it was a "give away". It does mention kobo within the book somewhere if I recall.

And it's actually quite a good read - although it is fairly long and not all the chapters were of interest, but hey, it was free! Enjoy

Well, it seems that my hazy recollection of the trigger for getting the free book was correct. It was for downloading the Kobo reading app from the Android market. The details are here.

I'm pretty sure it is. I got my copy when I installed and started using the android Kobo app.

I believe this book is being given away under some cases. The promo is not eReader or Desktop-related, so I don't know for sure. I'll find out tomorrow.
