All right, that's enough. Did you kids forget is making his list and checking it twice? He's gonna find out who's naughty and nice. Instead of Fictionwise gift certificates, I'm seeing lots of stockings full of coal here!
Diogene: I hope your problem with your Bebook gets fixed quickly. I feel certain that a fix will be available soon, if not from the company, then probably from some of our wonderful MobileRead members who are very talented and enjoy a challenge. Just try to be patient, because nothing ever happens exactly when we need it, right? Everyone Else: Stop being grinches, please. Diogene has a real problem, but he didn't communicate it respectfully. That's OK, we all have moods. But there clearly is a problem with the Bebook upgrade that needs to be addressed. Poking at it is not solving the underlying issue of an e-device problem, which is detrimental to all of our concerns about promoting the usefullness of ebooks. Now, which of 's helpers can figure out what is wrong with the firmware upgrade and supply a fix before this problem wipes out other members' readers as well? I forgot to suggest that maybe a back version of the previous firmware is available? Is it possible to downgrade a Bebook back to working condition until the upgrade is fixed? Just a thought.

Disastrous firmware upgrade for many BeBook users: no excuses from BeBook!!!
Let me tell you why you lost all books
According to the update step: Hold to press V+ button (Volume up button, which is on the top of the right side of the device),switch on the device. What you did? press V- button. This is operation will erase all the files( internal memory) |

Nup, I updated two BeBooks at the weekend, pressed V+ with both. Lost the internal memory on one machine having received a error message stating "bad block 53". the internal memory required formatting following this incident. The second machine pressed V+ and the upgrade went as it should have.

Maybe he is right after all. The many BeBook users who like me tried to update the firmware during the week-end must have been totally drunk and stoned, as every week-end, and of course we pressed the wrong button, as easily happens when holding a glass of Brandy in one hand and a joint in the other hand.
Next time they should release their new firmware on Monday, when we are all more or less sober. |

A big round of applause for the fraud called plug-n-play!
And an even bigger one for the genius programmers/hardware manufacturers who came up with the software necessity to eject something that you in reality only plug/unplug!!! Couldn't they have proper checks in place? Of course, if they really were competent. They are so out of touch with the way normal people use things. Will nerds ever get real? |

I do think this thread has run its course. Once again people find it difficult to debate a point without resorting to insults.
BeBook support has clearly stated that they're aware of this particular problem and that they're working on a solution. Feel free to get in contact with them directly if you have any more questions. |
