Domain of the Dead by Ian McKinnon and David Moody is free from Permuted Press.

The world is dead, devoured by a plague of reanimated corpses.

In a crumbling city Sarah, Nathan, and a band of survivors barricade themselves inside a warehouse surrounded by a sea of shambling putrefaction. Days in seclusion blur by, and their food is nearly gone. The group is faced with two possible deaths: creeping starvation, or the undead outside the warehouse.

As Sarah stands on the edge of the warehouse roof preparing to step out into oblivion she spots a glimmer of hope. In the distance a helicopter approaches the city ... but is it the salvation the survivors have been waiting for? And do they dare attempt to fight their way through the mass of infected dead to reach it?

Based on the wording used in the description, not sure how good this will be, in spite all of the five-star reviews. If I were in a warehouse surrounded by ravenous hordes, not sure my days would "blur by." And "creeping starvation"? Hmmm ....

However I rather like the "surrounded by a sea of shambling putrefaction" bit, lol.

Or if you absolutely had to go out, you could wrap a bandage over your head and under your chin. Kind of like Jacob Marley in A Christmas Carol. That would prevent the dropped jaw. On the other hand, might look a bit more disturbing. Dunno.

But Blue Tyson's advice is probably best: read at home while lying down. If you did have to get up, your "jaw-dropping" would take place in a private setting. So, no worries.

One reviewer says this is about twisted minds. I had a pretzel once - many years ago - but I still can't seem to wrap my mind around this one.

Can someone read this and report back, please.

In the meantime, I'll download it and archive it on disk #3402-atrth-$+ for safekeeping in case I eat another pretzel.
