Write reports etc. on the iRiver?

Would it be easy to write more or less lengthy reports, etc. on the iRiver. And if so, can you save them in a practical format (txt, rtf, doc)?

Theoretically, you could write a novel on it. But the speed of response is too slow to write anything more than a very short paragraph.
