Thank you, my original question was how did you answered (like in interrogation) "rhetoric by Aristotle" without having read it.

Magic! I pulled the answer from cyberspace via the google.

Actually, I thought the quote sounded a bit like Spinoza, which is what I would have guessed if I'd been guessing!

Good man!
but Spinoza for me is almost unreadable although quite admirable.

Good for google, I should use it more than just maps. I mostly ask Wikipedia. At home I do not have much bandwidth.
by the way what does it mean "ebook tyro." ? that's my new insult from the system.

That's no insult! That's your Karma Fortune!

A tyro is: A beginner in learning something.

I suspect much of his difficult reading style was a deliberate attempt to express his convictions without alerting the censors.

from tyrocinium of course.

I like this particular Karma Fortune. The one I got before was insulting and also the zealot, that's why I changed it. At least that's the way I felt when I saw it.

It is also very true, that's the way I consider myself in most of the circumstances. An apprentice, I mean

It has the purpose of training a lawyer or a politician to convince other people or to win a cause, and myself, I do not care at all for these things. In order to do so, among other things, he examines the emotive motors of our opinions ... There are many other things in the book. Thats a good suggestion, thank you. I just need to finish 'Howards End' and read 'the origin of species' and 'Symposion' and take a look at 'a room of ones own' først...

Seriously, its a good idea - but i want to find a good modern danish translation. However good it might be, Im pretty sure Id 'go dead' in an old english one. For ancient texts I think its important to keep the feeling of them fresh, not bogged down by oldfashioned language.

You are absolutely right. These sort of books are more like references. I used to pinch a morsel now and then.

Bye Ea, have a good time with your Iphone and I hope that tomorrow you get a computer. I am going to cook dinner for my family. Sunday night it's easy. Toasts and steamed zucchini for the little one. Toasts and beer for the adults.

Up to page 55

Jon? What page are you on?

Several snickers and grins on my part so far. Nothing I'd say was a rotfl belly laugh...

I liked the description of drinking the moonshine.

Just finished reading Love Among the Chickens by P.G. Wodehouse which I read as a supplement to this month's selection, so I should be well prepared for the discussion!
