Replacement Kindle 1 Serial number does not work with scripts

I was contacted by someone who just received a replacement Kindle 1 with a serial number unlike the ones we are used to. The serial number begins with "B101" instead of "B001" for Kindle 1. The same serial number is on the Kindle 1 and on the box it was shipped in.

I tried to change the PID script to "B101" instead of "B001" but cannot generate a PID. I also had the owner install MobiPocket Reader and check for the PID that way. The result reads "This list is empty".

Has anyone run across this series of serial numbers? Does anyone have a suggestion (you can PM me if you prefer)?

As of tomorrow, I won't be around much for the rest of the month so I asked the Kindle 1 owner to keep an eye on this thread in case anyone comes up with a suggestion or solution.

Thanks!

What about finding version 6.0 of Mobipocket? That should allow you to connect the Kindle to the computer and view the PID. Newer versions won't work.

Great idea, tlrowley. Worked like a champ. Version 6.2 would not give me my PID.
Thanks for the help.
