DIY stylus
I was recently thinking about buying a bigger stylus for my iLiad v2 to replace the little toothstick. The cheapest one I found was ~30 euros excl. shipment, which is quiet heavy. I was wondering if I could build one for myself using an old pen or something. And as it's exam time here and I had to take my mind off learning...
Tada!!! Here's the new iLiad Executive CEO(-to-be) Stylus Limited Edition! I've taken an old Lamy tipo (€6.90 in the EU, $16 in the US SRP), removed the ink and the spring, did some little carving and put the original stylus in. Quite straight forward, only a matter of ~10 minutes. Carving was easy as the front of the pen is kind of a weak plastic (no rubber, solid but quiet processible). I used a little kitchen knife and a scissor to cut off ~3mm from the tip. Here are some pictures: 1. The whole thingy, 2. a closer look at the tip, 3. even closer (I've curved a little too heavy at one point, but doesn't matter), 4. disassembled. Just in case someone wants to do something similar. Sehr cool Herr Director! Double check your pen before scribbling if you have more Lamy tipos...

Good idea and nice execution.
As a curiosity, did you noticed a significant reduction in battery duration as a consequence of keeping the stylus full time out of its place? IFAIK there is a switch that keeps the tablet off when the stylus is stored, reducing energy consumption. Regards, |

You're right, this switch exists. I thought of that before, especially as my battery isn't that good anymore. But some time ago jharker found out that pulling out the stylus doesn't significantly drain the battery. I didn't have any negative experience too, so that shouldn't be much of a problem.
