I just finished sorting and filing about 6 months worth of mail. I definitely need to start to pay more attention to the paperwork each month.

My almost-19-year-old male kitty, Gus, has been diagnosed with FIP. (Sorry, couldn't make the link work. [mod: fixed for you]) He's got the effusive version, which means his abdomen fills with fluid. I took him last weekend and had the fluid aspirated, but he's filling up again and I don't plan to put him through that any more. The vet and I agreed that I'll keep him here until the fluid starts to impact his comfort level and breathing, then it will be time to let him go.

And, you know, I'm not putting this in Vent and Rant because I know how lucky I've been to have him healthy for so long. We're having some quality cuddle time this week, and I hope to be able to let him go with dignity and before he gets too uncomfortable. He is, and has always been, a Very Good Cat.

So sorry, Betty. I'm just glad that you were able to share so many years together first.

I'm so sorry to hear this, I'm glad you have time to properly say goodbye to him. Give him lots of attention and love during the time he's still with you.

Sorry to hear about your cat, Betty. 19 years is an achievement, but still too short when it comes to loved ones.

We love them knowing this day will come and somehow hoping it never will. Recognizing when the time is right and letting go is never easy...but we do let go because we love them.

I've been watching the Hotdog kick around on the floor for the last 20 minutes. Enjoying him in my most favorite pants that he has: the lion-butt-pants.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I think you're taking the only sensible and caring course of action open to you, even though it is a hard decision.

Sorry to hear about your cat, but it's good that you did have this many good years with him. Nineteen is a ripe old age for a cat. Christian is that age, but he's still in pretty good health so far, knock on wood.

I'm so sorry about your cat, Betty. Enjoy the time that you have with him. He is very lucky to have such a wonderful owner.
