New one just showed up at my library
Looks like it's aimed at teens, but it might be out there in other overdrive public libraries...

there is also Queen Victoria: Demon Hunter
Queen Victoria’s thoughts are occupied by Prince Albert. Can she dedicate her life to saving her country when her heart belongs elsewhere? With lashings of glistening entrails, decapitations, zombies, and foul demons, this masterly new portrait will give a fresh understanding of a remarkable woman, a legendary monarch, and quite possibly the best demon hunter the world has ever seen. http://www.harpercollins.com/books/9...ter/index.aspx |

Just saw Zombies for Zombies at B&N pretty funny spoof of a Dummies guide. And Plauge of the Dead by Z A Recht, looks pretty good on first scan through. Military bio weapon creates living dead.
Hey Doc? Have you ever heard of or read The Flesh Eaters by LA Morse of Offspring by Jack Ketchum? I read Morse's book back in highschool and was reminded of it when I read a review about Ketchem's books in Horror Hound magazine. They sound like they are worth looking up. |

If you want a real good time, check out Bosley Gravel's *Cannibal Lesbian Zombies from Outer Space -- versus -- Doctor Clockwork and his Furious Plastic Surgeons of Doom: The Movie*. It really is one heck of a good read -- set to become an American classic, I think. You can pick it up in all digital formats at Smashwords and pretty well everywhere else in ebook and paperback, but if you're strapped for cash, just email me and I'll send you a PDF version free. Cheers. Neil

Thanks to Neil, Gravel's The Movie... was fun, and the formating looked good. It is a movie script in a novel.
I just finished Day By Day Armageddon and the second book is due out in July. Looks promising. |

A vampire-based comic to mention
There's a recent vampire comic might be of interest to some readers:
American Vampire: A new Vertigo Comics series (the first issue was released this week) that is written by Scott Snyder and Stephen King (the famous horror author), with art by Rafael Albuquerque. It's a series that features a new species of vampire that originate in America. The first issue features two stories (one written by Snyder and the other by King), one story takes place in the 1880s and the other in 1925. Last edited by Solitaire1; 03-30-2010 at 01:47 AM. I loved World War Z. I didn't like The Zombie Survival Guide much, though, except for the recorded attacks appendix. That was cool.
I've also heard good things about I Am Legend, though I haven't read it myself. |

There's a graphic novel version of I Am Legend out there, it was good but I liked the traditional book better. I love Matheson.

Breathers: A Zombie's Lament
Don,
A while ago, I downloaded the free Amberville that got mentioned here. I finally started reading it yesterday, and after two chapters, still couldn't get my head wrapped around the (what's the word?) milieu. So, going to the web for help, I happened on a Washington Post capsule review. And what should appear on the same page, but a review of Breathers: A Zombie's Lament, by S.G. Browne. Based on the review, I stopped at the public library on the way home last night and picked it up (there doesn't appear to be an e-edition). It's certainly a new and unique perspective that the author calls "zom-rom-com" (zombie romantic comedy). From the back cover blurb: Quote:
I should keep recording these bon mots as I find them:
