Feature Requests

I've been using Calibre for only 6 months or so to organize my document collection and have been really pleased with the ease of finding a work when I need it.

What would help me:
1) An extra field to hold copyright info. I teach adults and I'd like a quick way to search for materials I can distribute and those I can't.
2) Shortcut keys, please. For me, the interface is very mouse dependent.
3) Ability to enter a published date directly. I only get the little calendar and it is a nuisance when entering older works. I haven't even tried to put the original publication date of "Emile", 1762.

Cheers

You could add a new tag (called Dist, for example) to each book which is distributable. Then if you type tag: Dist in the SearchBar, Calibre will only display those books which have the Dist tag.

There are quite a lot of shortcut keys already. If you highlight a book in the Calibre window and right-click the mouse you will see what they all are.

If you double-click a published date you can overtype the date directly without the calender coming up. Just don't click the little arrow on the right.

Hope some of this might help

That will let you edit month/year directly, but it won't let you actually delete the month from the date.

If it does not have all 3 section, it is not a "Date" and will be rejected:
Just dummy in the mm and dd 1/1/1763

Thanks everyone.

Copyright) Yes, I could add a tag and likely will do so.
Shortcuts keys) I tried it again and got it. I missed it because I must use combination of Fn+Letter, not the more typical Ctl-letter or ALt-letter.
Date) Yes, it can be entered from the main screen. Still, that does not work when editing a date in the metadata window where only the calendar is avaliable.

Cheers

You can double click on the year in the calendar to edit it directly
