Kindle 2 supports scanned pdfs!

Haven't seen this reported anywhere, but it appears the Kindle 2 supports scanned pdfs. When I email them for conversion they end up appearing on my Kindle essentially as a collection of images. Sometimes it automatically rotates the image so that the Kindle has to be rotated 90 degrees to view and other times it does not.

Does anyone know anyway to control the conversion process to force the 90 degree turn? I presume there is still no way to rotate the image with a keyboard shortcut?

If you need more control over the output then try PDFRead, see Kindle 2 and PDFRead 1.8.

This seems to follow the practice allowed in some site licenses for Electronic resources (digital books/journals) at Libraries where the libraries are allowed to ILL (send to another library "Interlibrary loan") by scanning a PDF and sending that scan.

This should be fairly useful actually, providing there is an easy way to batch rotate them, which "PDFRead" seems to do. I'll give this a try at some point; may actually come in handy for work applications.

Also, is there any way to set the default zoom setting as zoomed in so that on each page of a scanned pdf you do not have to press down on the joystick, then to the right, and then click to zoom in?

Photos?

Can you post any photos of Kindle showing scanned PDFs? Can you add annotations and transfer them back to PC?

A scanned PDF file must be converted into Mobipocket format, just like any other PDF file. Just think of it as a bunch of image files, just like embedded illustrations. It is still just a Kindle file, so annotations are added at the location (image) in the book.
