1.2.6 - problem with mixed content in OPDS catalog
Hi Mickael,
I've been playing with 1.2.6 and I noticed a bug : whenever there is mixed content in one of the OPDS sub-catalogs (as it happens when a list of books is broken down by letter, for example, and some letters only contain one entry : the entry replaces the letter link), EPUBReader does not find the sub-catalogs (the letters links in my example) but list them as if they were books. Here's an example : http://davidsoft.free.fr/calibre2opd...og/catalog.xml Use the "All books" subcatalogs. If you need more details, please mail me ! All best, David. |

Hi David, thanks for your feedback!
I checked your feed and could see what you mean. You are right, in the case of a mixed feed (catalogs and books), both are handled as books. I checked other pages of your feed and saw, that in the case of authors you don't send a mixed feed. In this case you send first a catalog with all letters, including those with just one author and in the next step the single authors are listed. I checked also about 10 other OPDS feeds and couldn't find another one sending a mixed feed. Or did I miss one? So I wouldn't say, that this is a bug, EPUBReader just doesn't support this ;-). If the situation changes and there are other OPDS feeds sending mixed feeds, I'll think about it. Best, Michael |

Hi Michael,
The mixed feed should be used for all the "split-by-letter" catalogs, this is a bug in my tool. From what I read in the OPDS specification, mixed content is technically authorized (or isn't it ? I'll ask the question in the mailing list). If it is indeed authorized, I'd like to continue using it in calibre2opds because I feel it's a nice enhancement (skipping useless sub-catalogs) ; in this case, would it be difficult to update EPUBReader ? All best, David. |

Ok, then if it's hard for you, I guess it's up to me to do something about this : how about adding an option to calibre2opds, that will disable the "split optimisation" when set ? This way, if the user wants to use EPUBReader, he would be able to...
On a second thought, what keeps the user from using the HTML catalog generated by calibre2opds, and read the books with EPUBReader ? It's possible to do just this, isn't it ? Cheers, David. |
