how much does 3G or Wi-Fi affect battery life?
I assume that turning off 3G and/or Wi-Fi will help
conserve battery life, but just how much savings can I expect? (in hours or percent) Since 3G is running off AT&T cellular/data networks, it should use more power than Wi-Fi connected to my home router, right? Thanks in advance! Last edited by ovaldisk; 07-29-2011 at 12:29 PM. |

I have had mine for 2 weeks now. Using Wi-Fi only and keeping it always on, have resulted on a battery life of 1 week. I have used 3G only twice.
Please consider that using 3G will consume a lot of battery specially if you are moving and the Kindle needs to search for a new connection. Hope this helps; |

Turning off wireless will massively extend battery life. A 3G Kindle will need recharging every few days if you leave the wireless on; turn it off and you'll probably get a month between charges.

I keep the wireless turned off on my K3 to maximize the battery life. I only turn it on when I am searching for a book or downloading one.

Yes. Even in sleep mode the Kindle is still talking to Amazon's servers occasionally, looking for new items to download, etc.

Same here. I only turn it on to download something to the Kindle and once that's done it goes right back offline again. Of course I play with the apps I've downloaded (mostly games) so I still burn through a charge fairly quickly but I like to think that it still lasts longer than it would with my wi-fi turned on.
