How to view calibre conversion commands?

I have an .epub file I exported from Apple Pages. If I load it into Calibre, then convert it to .mobi, the cover looks great. But If I use ebook-convert from the command line to convert the .epub to .mobi, the book cover is missing. I tried using --cover=myfile.jpg, but that just places a picture of the file on the front cover.

Is it possible to see how calibre is executing the conversion commands? There's a debug option, but that just generates a bunch of html. I'm interested in duplicating what calibre is doing on the command line.

Look at the log, click the rotating spinner in the bottom right corner.

I've looked at that before, but it does not show the actual commands used for the conversion, only informational messages:

The resolved conversion options map directly to corresponding options for the ebook-convert command. The GUI does not however use ebook-convert directly, so there is no actual command line to see.
