Kindle Font Problem

I have a Kindle 2 and have just started using Calibre. I am unable to get scalable fonts on the Kindle no matter what I do. I have tried different settings when converting PDF documents. I am outputting to Kindle format. When I look at the Kindle format document on my Kindle, it shows font scaling but no matter what size I select, the font remains small and will not scale. Thanks for any help.

Some PDFs consist of images, one per page. Essentially, the PDF is just a wrapper around a collection of images. When converted for the Kindle, these most likely end up as an AZW wrapper around the same collection of images. So there is no actual text to rescale.

If this is the case here, you can either use the Kindle's native PDF to zoom (at bit) in landscape mode or try one of the image-based PDF converters. See the sticky threads in the PDF forum and also PDFRead 1.8 released!

Thanks

Thanks, that's probably what's happening. I have found that the books in question are easier to read as PDFs on my Kindle and, as you suggest, in landscape mode.
