Thinking of ditching my subscription to the local news paper
And instead reading entirely online. I have heard a lot of people ditching the expensive print newspaper subscriptions and instead reading the entire newspaper online for free. What's your opinion:

We haven't had a newspaper subscription in years, although mostly because the paperboy/girl was too lazy to put it in the mail box and instead threw it into the doorway of our store and it either got stolen or trampled on. We usually buy the Saturday paper at the news agency, though.

My town delivers free (taxes) the local paper but I tend to toss it into recycle bin. I get all my news online. I do however retreive the coupons and favorite store flyers/booklets.

(The paper deliverer before that one had a car and used to drive up to the newspaper box -- he could reach it from his car window! ) Around the holidays, we'll get the paper so that the kids can have glossy ads to use for their wishlists, but we pretty much just depend on the morning news and the internet to keep us up to date. |

We ditched a paper news source, five or six years ago,for online news. I read my local paper on line as well as two other news sources. We find that it works quite well, for us.

I just get the Sunday paper delivered. My local paper has a paywall online but they give me full access even with just receiving Sunday for $8/mos.

I don't have a subscription to my local newspaper, mainly because of having to rid of them after I finish with them and that I get my news via TV, radio, and the internet. I'd consider getting a subscription if a version of the paper was available for loading on my ebook reader (say PDF), and formatted for ease of use on my ereader.

My father-in-law recently took out an online subscription for The Times. Not sure of the exact cost, but he got a free Nexus 7 thrown in.
