Edits to book.db retained without rooting?

I like the tip on the wiki to modify the homescreen to show last read books instead of recently added:
https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/PRST...2last_added.22

What I'm wondering though is whether this sql change to books.db will be retained if I have not rooted? If I do a 'sync' with the Reader software, will this change to books.db be retained?

TIA

I use it on my T1, it doesn't need to be rooted to make this SQL change. Here's the creator's (Kolenka) original thread.

However, can't help you with the Sony software syncing, I only ever use Calibre for copying books. No problem with that.

Thanks jackie_w, I followed the steps and am enjoying the 'recently read' list now. Will see if it 'sticks' next time it syncs..
