Samsung Galaxy Note- 5.5 inch S-AMOLED Display with Pen Input

Samsung announced the "Note" at IFA. Engadget has a short hands on here

Its a gorgeous display but I m not convinced the pen input is as accurate as Samsung would like people to believe

They supposedly have a 5.29 inch model with a phone working its way through the FCC. It would be a good upgrade from my Streak. Is this the same one?

oh- it appears to be a Wacom-esque(if not actually Wacom) emr digitizer pen. Thats excellent really

Love this phone, I've been happy with my Galaxy S, but the Note is really the phone I've wanted all along a 5.3", high quality screen with a stylus. Note it also has a dual core 1.4Ghz processor so it will hum along nicely.

With this phone I would ditch my nook/kindle reader.

It's going to be tied to a data plan and cost no less than $200. Off contract I'm guessing $699. Somehow I still feel I'm low balling the actual price

Funny how unsubsidized small tablets (ie; smartphones) cost more than their larger brothers (ie; tablets).

It costs money to make things small, though I guess one can argue a 5.3" display phone is not small. But they do have the thin factor.

Not that much. Just look at the iPod touch.

If they did something like this on a larger scale, such as 7" or 9", I would be more interested. If you're really going to be using this for notes, other than a quick jot, then it is too small.

I agree.

This would be a great size for a traveling internet device. Unfortunately; it'll be too expensive.

Swiping your hand across the display will take a screen shot and covering the display will play and pause media.

They both surf the web, do email, do messaging, do social sites, do video chat, stream audio, stream video, etc.

Shove a 3G radio in a touch and you have an iPhone.

and a you can watch a 5 year old tv just as you watch a new cutting edge spec tv. they do the same thing but the cost will be different

this already is a phone- a 4g LTE phone

And it'll require a data plan which costs money. There are a lot of us out there that don't want to pay for internet access when it's readily available for free over wifi.
