Creating content for the Kindle

I am trying to drop in some short stories created in Word. Are there any other options beyond txt that will allow me to keep some formatting?

Thanks in advance.

You probably want to use the mobi file format. There may be better ways to convert it but here is one way: You could try select all (ctrl-a) in Word, open Sigil (see http://code.google.com/p/sigil/ ), paste and save as epub. And then convert to mobi using Calibre.

I have moved this thread to the workshop and edited the title a bit so you would get more responses from the ebook creating wonks here at MR.

Don't paste from Word. Save as "Web Page, filtered" from Word and then open that HTML file in Sigil.

This will preserve your formatting much better.
