2010 Hugo Award Nominations

The two most prestigious awards in the SF/fantasy genre are the Hugo Awards, presented by the World Science Fiction Convention, and the Nebula Awards, presented by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America.

The 2010 World SF Convention is in Australia this year, and the list of Hugo Award nominations has been posted on their web site:

http://www.aussiecon4.org.au/index.php?page=66

Winners will be selected by votes from members of Aussiecon Four. Folks interested in becoming members and voting can find membership information here: http://www.aussiecon4.org.au/index.php?page=27

(You do not have to be an attending member to vote.)

If you are a member, or become one, you can vote on-line here:
http://www.aussiecon4.org.au/hugoawa...nal_ballot.php

Some of what is nominated saw it's first publication electronically. (I have not checked the ebook status of all the offerings.)

All the best novel nominees are available as ebooks, but two don't seem to be in the Kindle Store.

Julian Comstock: A Story of 22nd-Century America by Robert Charles Wilson is available a some stores but not on the Kindle. Perhaps this is just an Agency model switchover issue.

The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi is from Night Shade and is sold DRM-free by Baen webscriptions.net. This is readable on a Kindle, but is only available from Webscriptions.

I've gotten 8 so far. Go to Tor.com and Asimov's magazine sites to get the free PDF downloads. Will look for more tomorrow. Good night everyone!

The Julian Comstock was listed on Amazon as a pre-order (I put it on my wait list) but has been pulled.

I had it on my Amazon wish list as a pbook, intending to buy the ebook when it was available. This seems to be a typical Tor ebook screw up. I gave up yesterday and bought from Sony for $12.99.
