Sorry to hear that kk.
A red Shiraz in my glass to dull the pain tonight, though mine is of an mental kind - four people I know, 2 of them close family, have been diagnosed with cancer this week. Never had cancer in the family before, so it's a bit of a shock. |

thanks. in this case it's in remission, but what a struggle, and just on the personal level dealing with, "yes, you have to do these things if you want to live, if not just let me know and I'll throw up my hands with you". Seriously. huge, yelling and screaming issue with a person who is otherwise going to die. and that doesn't even count the treatments, the doctors, the tests, the surgeries....
nevermind. brandy |

Tough, orlok. I hope the prognoses for all are good, and I hope that shiraz is a good one as well.
kk, hang in there. We're almost to the scary part, followed by the better part. Diet coke and popcorn. But later, after I reboot this server, it's time for Talisker. |

Thanks Prof and Charlie. Nothing we can do except be supportive. And kk, we haven't got to that stage yet, my sympathies with what you have gone through. One of them is my wife's Dad (he still a relatively young 68), and I think it's going to be rough.
Just finished the Shiraz, which wasn't too shabby, and now off to bed at 1am in the morning. |

"Time to reboot the server!" But, right now, I'll settle for another mug of tea. |

Yesterday a child came out to wonder
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar Fearful when the sky was full of thunder And tearful at the falling of a star Then the child moved ten times round the seasons Skated over ten clear frozen streams Words like when you're older must appease him And promises of someday make his dreams And the seasons they go round and round And the painted ponies go up and down We're captive on the carousel of time We can't return we can only look Behind from where we came And go round and round and round In the circle game ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9VoLCO-d6U ) Good morning, everyone. KK and Orlok, keep your chins up. We're all sending positive energies for the better health of your friends and relatives, and strength for you both. It's not easy when someone close to you has to face these trials. My mother recently passed away from a long fight with liver cancer, my first wife died from ovarian cancer, and my current wife's parents both went from it several years ago. No... it's not easy to stand by, see it happening, and feel so helpless to change it. I'll lift my cup of Keemun tea to you and yours. Stitchawl Last edited by Stitchawl; 06-11-2014 at 10:45 PM. |

Orlok my Mom was 65 when she was diagnosed with stage 3B lung cancer. She had a 15 % chance of surviving 5 years. She is in year 7. The surgery, chemo, and radiation sucked but she was there for my wedding and the birth of my child. It is rough but he might very well beat the odds. Someone has to, why not him?
