TOC works in Previewer but not in Kindle?

I created the epub in Sigil. Converted it using KindleGen and the TOC works great in Kindler Previewer but the TOC does not show up in Kindle for Mac or on my Kindle.

KindleGen showed no warnings on the conversion....

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

L

Is it an in-line TOC?

Did you mark it as the TOC in the <guide> section of the content.opf file?

No, it's not a toc.html (I think that's what you are asking?), it's the toc.ncx generated by Sigil..... PLEASE excuse my ignorance on this!

Thanks,

OK, that's the problem then. The mobi format (Kindle) does not use the toc.ncx file from the epub (except to allow the chapter hopping via the 5-way switch). You must create an html file with the table of contents links in it. Calibre will do this for you, but kindlegen will not.

There are several threads dealing with this topic, in the Mobi, epub, and sigil forums. Good hunting!
