he's an ex-pat. right now obviously the Kindle is registered to my address and I will give him the choice of leaving it that way or de-registering it from my account and putting it on his own. regardless... he actually has a US Mail drop address, comes up every 2 months or so for books he has ordered from Amazon ironically enough, the huge COSTCO run and medical appointments

I can confirm it does work! If you have an International Kindle, that was shipped outside the US, but you also have a legitimate (some even use Hotels etc) US address, especially a mail drop address as the default address in '1 click' then US books are available.

Whispernet works for delivery of books, yes, but not for general web-browsing, which is what the download links use. That only works in the US.

60 books so far. It is a proper address though, not a fake one and I will receive any mail that is sent to that address.

Whispernet works fine in Australia, but only for downloading books, not general internet stuff.
