InDesign export as ePub?

Hi,

Does anyone have experience exporting an InDesign file as ePub? More specifically, does anyone have tips on what to keep in mind for the InDesign file to work well as ePub?

I have a beautifully designed book and have just noticed the possibility of exporting in this way. However, the ID doesn't create a TOC and also some line formats seem to disappear when I open it in Calibre.

Is it as simple as creating sections and headings in ID, similar to an ebook editor?

Grateful for any tips.

Most of your beautiful design is probably not supported by ePUB anyway. Tables, text around pictures, frames, and any page-aware content in general is at most precariously supported (by the readers and by the format itself). Don't keep your hopes too high, and ask (or search) in the ePUB forum, next door to the left.

Liz Castro has written a good book on the joys of using InDesign for epub generation. Go to her blog and find it in the right-hand column. Also read through the blog for lots more useful info.
