I figured out what those "free" sample songs are. Prior to Amazon selling individual songs, I used to buy CD's of complete albums from them. Those "free" songs are merely the rest of those albums which I never used. I used to rip off only one or two songs from each CD to actually use.
Evidently, Amazon has placed those entire CD's into the Cloud for my use. Thus, I probably can download them since I actually paid for them many years ago. |

My only wish is we could connect it more than one account. Hubby has his own account and now he has the Fire he no longer can listen to his music on it but he can on all other devices. The music is on my account only. |

My preferred method for listening to music is to stream it. My two favorite sites for mixed streaming are AOL Radio and TuneIn Radio. For streaming music on demand, I use YouTube. When there's no wifi connection, I use retro streaming - FM radio.

Tune In Radio problem.

I also like Pandora which shapes the songs to my tastes and sometimes gives me a chance to buy them at Amazon. Last edited by sirmaru; 10-23-2013 at 01:48 PM. |

The genres I listen to aren't on radio much or have change so much I no longer recognize it. |

TunIn Radio for news
I use TuneIn Radio for news and commentary - not music, by the way. I just wish they would fix it so it could run on the HDX 2013.

Of course, this is all very subjective since it's about music - YMMV |

So, by your statement, you seem to think that reading without distractions is "primitive"? Maybe my brain doesn't multi-task in the same ways that yours does, but when I'm reading a good book I wish to tune out the world. That's the joy of reading for millions of people; to leave the common world behind and play - even if only for a moment - in an imaginary one. That act is one of the most sophisticated and creative acts available to mankind. How would muddying that experience with music (or any other background noise) somehow elevate it from a primitive means of reading to a sophisticated one? I'm not trying to start an argument, but your comment is insulting to anyone who loves the pure joy of reading without distraction. I'd rethink the wording.

I read fiction though. Sirmaru reads non fiction. Maybe that's the difference. |

I read fiction while listening to music. I find it very easy to do and not distracting in the least.
