8.9" Fire HD

Kindle Fire HD in the UK - Can anyone shed any light on why the larger version is not available in the UK. I notice price reductions in the US for this model. Are there any untold problems with it?

It may have something to do with 4G, but surely there will be two versions as there is with the smaller models.

Nothing definite from Amazon.co.uk - I had a non-committal response.
