But for people who are looking for something other than e-Ink screens for reading and note taking, this isn't too bad. And the price is pretty good. |

Just kidding of course, I'd buy an iPad in a flash (no pun intended) if I didn't have to trade my soul for it. |

I'm definitely excited for this upcoming deluge of tablets over the next year or two!
Nice that there's one or two mentioned with 12" screens--just wish they'd get more to a paper sized ratio than 16x9. |

Who cares if some don't turn up as expected, the main thing is getting more choice in the shops since there are plenty of people that like the form factor, but have no desire to accept the compromises forced on them by the ipad even if others are perfectly happy with that device.

Will give people more choice, and the more stuff they try the more stuff companies will learn either works or doesn't so by the 2nd and 3rd gen of tablets we have a slew of great options to choose from so everyone can find what they want. |

I'd really like to see someone take something like this digital notepad in the link below and turn it into a full on multimedia tablet! http://www.journeyed.com/item/Adesso...lets/45865943N |

One thing it might be is an Irex killer, it's half the price of the DR800 and does much of the same things. EDIT: After reading up on reflective LCDs I think these LCDs just look really bad (like, goddamn terrible) on video in demos due to the harsh specular lighting and low ambient causing the reflectivity to wreak havoc with the display. In actual use they must be better since people are so happy with them. Last edited by fishface; 05-31-2010 at 03:39 PM. |

The best thing about such a device and even to the eeepads that they announced is that at least asus aren't taking things easy, they are looking for ways to stand out from the crowd rather than simply chucking out a 10-11" atom-based tablet and a 9-10" android tablet which seems to be the default approach of most of these companies so far.
