I'm not sure if this one is new but I didn't find it mentioned yet:

Free at Kobo and Smashwords, $0.99 elsewhere.
Phoenix Pick's eBooks are overpriced at free. They put out eBooks with code so very hideous. They have no clue how the heck to make an eBook. The code is so bad, it would be easier to convert to text and use Sigil to remake the eBook.

Make Room! Make Room! , by Harry Harrison
currently $1.99 at Amazon US
http://www.amazon.com/Make-Room-Rose.../dp/B003XRELMA

This novel, originally published in 1966, was the basis for the movie Soylent Green.
" A teeming New York City and a detective's pursuit of a killer and nefarious racketeer comprise this novel. While the novel contains elements of classic detective fiction--the hard-boiled protagonist, the seductive mistress, the portraits of corruption and perfidy--Harrison's true concern is less the story itself and more the opportunity the story offers to give the reader a glance at a dismal and broken world. The state of overpopulation has altered life in innumerable ways, and Harrison is keenly interested in documenting the catastrophic effects of this burden on all human relationships."

Jon - I agree they are a pain to fix, but, they seem to be getting better. The January free book of the month actually allowed me to change font size without editing the css and the file was split into several sections, so it's possible whoever makes the eBooks has either got better (OK it still wasn't great inside the html but at least your average reader wouldn't notice).

It's not about reading them. It's just about collecting.

Found a link where the publisher Orbit is offering a monthly eBook deal at http://www.orbitebooks.com/

This month is The Legend of Eli Monpress by Rachel Aaron for $2.99. This is an omnibus edition of the first three books in a series.

Amazon US
BN
Kobo

Quote:
Eli Monpress is talented. He's charming. And he's a thief.

But not just any thief. He's the greatest thief of the age - and he's also a wizard. And with the help of his partners - a swordsman with the most powerful magic sword in the world but no magical ability of his own, and a demonseed who can step through shadows and punch through walls - he's going to put his plan into effect.

The first step is to increase the size of the bounty on his head, so he'll need to steal some big things. But he'll start small for now. He'll just steal something that no one will miss - at least for a while.

Like a king.

The Legend of Eli Monpress includes the novels: The Spirit Thief, The Sprit Rebellion, and The Spirit Eater.

Anathem by Neal Stephenson $1.99

Anathem by Neal Stephenson $1.99 at B&N and Kobo (US only).

It was at this price last year too, but a second chance for those of us who missed it.

Mongoliad Book 3 by Neal Stephenson and others is available for $2.99 at Amazon US or £1.99 at Amazon UK.

If you preordered this from Amazon UK you will have been charged the preorder price of £3.99, rather than the current price of £1.99. You can return your current copy for a refund, then purchase it again at the lower price.

Frank Tuttle's The Mister Trophy is free on all venues I checked (including at his publisher site, Samhain). This is the first in the Markhat series (urban fantasy). The series is one of my all-time favorites, a blend of humor, dark-side, GREAT characters and fun. His latest is available for pre-order at a discount (best deal I saw for pre-order was Samhain, but Amazon had it for a dollar off.) I haven't looked to see if B&N has the pre-order.

The first three in this series are fairly short, but they are worth the adventure. As the novels got longer, I just got more enamored of the silly things!

Edited to add: The pre-order Markhat is "Brown River Queen."

Impulse by Steven Gould is $1.99. It's from Macmillan so probably that price at some of the other stores also.

Quote:
Cent has a secret. She lives in isolation, with her parents, hiding from the people who took her father captive and tortured him to gain control over his ability to teleport, and from the government agencies who want to use his talent. Cent has seen the world, but only from the safety of her parents’ arms. She’s teleported more than anyone on Earth, except for her mother and father, but she’s never been able to do it herself. Her life has never been in danger.

Until the day when she went snowboarding without permission and triggered an avalanche. When the snow and ice thundered down on her, she suddenly found herself in her own bedroom. That was the first time.
