Just for magazines?
Why not for every form of written media?

Larger screen...
Quote:
The device will be similar to the Amazon Kindle or Sony Reader, although it will have a larger screen to facilitate reading magazine or newspaper content, according to comments from an interview with Hearst Interactive honcho Kenneth Bronfin. Hearst will also allow other publishers to adapt the device's underlying technology, Bronfin shared in an upcoming issue of Fortune magazine.
And some pessimistic notes...
Quote:
Hearst is hoping its e-reader will meet a different fate. But McQuivey states that a device that debuts with a black and white screen would be a deal killer for many of the company's subscribers.

"Periodicals are just not effective in black and white," McQuivey says. "People who buy Esquire or Harper's Bazaar buy them because they want to see the magazine in color."

The problem with this venture is that this e-reader won't be wirelessly connected to the largest book retailer on the planet, as is the Kindle.

Wireless is a good first step, but unless they come up with some sort of agreement with Amazon to provide content, which would clearly not be in Amazon's best interest, they are destined to be not much more than a footnote.

Of course, this is just my opinion, YMMV etc...

I believe thats the point, to bypass Amazon altogether. Larger screen, maybe color., Wi-Fi. Be great for magazines and newspapers. Internet browsing. Subsidies that allow the reader to be very affordable, usable around the globe, etc. Lots of possibilities. I see a market
