page numbers

Hello everybody,

I'm a novice owner of Kindle 2. Here's my question/asking for help, and I apologize if it has already been addressed somewhere in the forum:

How does one identify original (hard copy) page numbers of a kindle edition book? I work in academia, and I need to supply page numbers in footnotes or endnotes.

Thank you,
Nenad

Unless they left paper page numbers during the conversion (which does not happen often, if ever) there is no way to tell the paper page number. I've read reports that some professors at universities have allowed the students to cite to the Kindle location numbers (which are unrelated to the page numbers) .

I have seen page numbers on scanned pdf files, but these are just artifacts from the original format. Have you checked any of the style guides? I've been out of college for almost nine years ago, and I haven't really followed any updates to Turabian's Manual for Writers....
