Firmware Update Manual Firmware Update

Ok, dumb question here but I want to do the manual update. I purchased my Kindle 2 on November 4th and my receipt indicates: "Kindle Wireless Reading Device (6" Display, U.S. & International Wireless, Latest Generation)".

I am located in the US. Do I need to d/l the US Wireless update or Global wireless update?

Global, if its the latest generation.

Why The Global ? is there a difference ? I dL'ed the U.S. version but haven't instaled it yet... I have the same version ask the original poster and the it's says it has version 2.0.4 I'm new to this, My brother just gave the Kindle a couple of weeks ago.

If you have firmware 2.04; it's a Kindle US only.
Not the global version.

Kindle 2 International (or Global) comes with 2.2 or 2.2.1

You can confirm based on the serial number on the box or the back of your Kindle 2. Kindle 2 US = B002 and Kindle 2 International = B003.

The Global version uses 3G GSM, ATT here in the US. The US only version uses EVDO, Sprint.
