finally made a decision and purchased a...

Sony prs 350. It came down to standing in Futureshop with the box in my hand, hemming and hawing but i eventually walked out with it, paying for it of course.
There were only demo models of the 300 and 600 but i had read enough about the 350 i felt pretty confident that the 350 screen would be better, turns out i was right.
Overall i am quite happy with it, although the plastic trim on the top and bottom seem pretty cheap.
I've loaded 5 books on it from the library and have a night shift to work tonight so i am set!

Congrats! I think it is a very well made item. The thing about the plastic trim.. at least it won't dent. My last ereader the PRS-600 .. never dropped but once.. as it just about always lived in the caselogic zippered case.. but because it was metal it suffered a little divet atop the device *ouch*.. otherwise not a scratch -- protected by wrapsol..

-Cheers!
Enjoy!

I have loaded 100 books.. I doubt I will be needed to sync it to the computer for a while..

Good to have your company, Andre. Nice hardware ... pity about the software. I'd advise (and I'm sure others here would, too) that you ignore Sony library gear and download Calibre. Good luck and best wishes. Neil (another Sony reader fan)
