PRS 600 ac charger
If I buy this

I'm planning to buy a generic brand ac adaptor/charger for my sony reader as well. Don't really want to spend $30 bucks on the sony brand. I haven't gotten it yet so can't tell you much. If it works while charging at home, it should work on the cruise given its the same outlet plug.

505 and 600 need a barrel connector PSU... PSP type was ideal - need 5V @500mA to 2000mA range. USB external PSUs not recommended, don't usually work as they fail to provide correct conditions on the USB port to charge...
Correct type with barrel connector also allows reading whilst charging... Check forum for more details... there have been several longstanding and detailed threads covering PSU topics... just note that all PRS prior to x50s use barrel connector Philips mini) and x50s all use micro USB like mobile phones... |

I have bad experiences from trying to use USB type chargers for my PRS-600. No damage or anything THAT bad, just no charge. It (or they - tried a couple I had at home) actually drained it instead of charging it! Probably for the reason "elcreatice" writes about.
I bought a (non-Sony) charger to plug into the round charger hole instead. Worked perfectly and allowed me to charge while reading! |
