Passt ja zu Amazons Verhalten, dass die Kindle Software nur für Windows und Mac veröffentlicht wird... Wieder ein weiteres KO aus meiner Sicht für den Kindle, dass Linux Nutzer außen vor gelassen werden.

Da Linux-User keine DRM-prc lesen können, dürften sie auch Schwierigkeiten mit DRM-azw haben. Der Fehler liegt also hier entweder allgemein am Format oder den Möglichkeiten von Linux. Aber nicht speziell bei Amazon.

Ich habe auch bei meinen eBook selbst den einfachsten DRM-Level herunternehmen müssen (d.h. die Dateien ließe sich trotzdem frei kopieren und auf allen anderen Geräten einsetzen), weil Linux-Kunden bei beam eBooks sie nicht öffnen konnten.

Hmm, hat Amazon nicht ein eigenes DRM Format?

An den Möglichkeiten von Linux liegt es sicher nicht, da man genauso quellgeschlossene Software für Linux entwickeln kann.

An Linux liegt es mit Sicherheit nicht. Der Iliad kann DRM-Mobi und basiert auf Linux.

Ist mir schon klar. Aber es sollte für Mobipocket/Amazon kein Problem sein, das auf den PC zu portieren. Umgekehrt geht's ja auch.

Der Kernel macht Linux aus und der ist überall der Selbe. Vielleicht ist er mal leicht modifiziert oder abgespeckt.

Seit dem Bestehen von Mobipocket haben sie das nicht hinbekommen. Seitdem Amazon es 2005 übernommen hat, haben sie es nicht hinbekommen. Die Ambitionen diesbezüglich scheinen also noch ausbaufähig zu sein ...
