Beedle the Bard available on 4 December 2008!
I was just at my local Borders bookstore, and I came across a sign advertising the upcoming release of The Tales of Beedle the Bard (aka HP and the Quest for More Money). You can preorder your copy here. You can also find it on Amazon.
I'm sure you're wondering about the ebook edition. Due to the author's paranoia about digital piracy, there will be no legal ebook of this work. |

But now we can all click on the "please tell the publisher I'd like to read this book on Kindle" link on Amazon .

It may be a quest for more money, but not for J.K Rowling personally.

I think that J.K. Rowling doesn't like e-books because they're better magic then the books in her stories. A paper book that bites people just isn't impressive when compared to a 7 oz device that absorbs an entire library and maxes out your credit card.

It's sad really. I'd happily buy all the books over again just to reread them on my Kindle. My paper copies have gone here and there and elsewhere through 2 moves. I'm not about to buy them in paper again. And yes, I clicked the kindlize button.

I bought the paper version of all the previous HP books, but sadly I have no legitimate way to get them electronically. Even though I also do have them in electronic form, I have wondered about the law in this case. I have the books in paperback format, so can I legally obtain or make an electronic copy to read on my electronic reading device or is scanning the book or downloading the book after someone else scanned it illegal.
Bet its a tricky area. |

Within a week, someone will scan it and it will appear on the internet. Meanwhile, those of us who would pay for the electronic edition can't get it (unless, I suppose, we buy the book and then get the pirated edition, though I'm not 100% sure that's legal).

Plus... The marketing machine behind her books is so large that half the people that buy the books most likely will never read them. Last edited by hidari; 08-15-2008 at 08:25 AM. |

Why, by the way, are we discussing this as "News"? The announcement about the publication of this book was made a couple of weeks ago - one could hardly visit Amazon and avoid it! |
