A thing I do not understand is the presence of two /etc/init.d/rcS
Could that explain the slow startup of the Kobo? |

Since you are here, is there a simple way to execute a shell script on /mnt/onboard wihout having to patch rc.S like I did?
And I could not find the background images used for boot! |

Really? I knew that can happen when starting a sub-shell but there I just used a simple /bin/sh command.
busybox must be working differently than the regular /bin/sh |

I get it! The fork comes from the line
( usleep 400000; zcat /etc/images/splash.raw.gz | /usr/local/Kobo/pickel showpic ) & /etc/images contains a few images but not the 'Powered off' image I am looking for :-( |

The powered off image is inside of the application.

you guys are all nerds. If linux was more user friendly I wouldn't have a dual boot, i'd make it my ONLY boot.
