Restoring PRS-T1

Hello everyone!

I have had many problems with T-1 but I am getting along.

Recently, I updated the reader with 1.0.05.11130 firmware.

This has led to some strange behaviour. If I open a book and and come back to the Books menu, it takes a good 10-20 seconds before I can open another book or give another command. The reader just seems to freeze for all that time.

I have tried this with many books so I know that it is not some faulty epub.

Now, my question is that what do I do to go back to 1.0.04?

Is there an existing thread or link someone can direct me to, please? Plus, what are the risks if I do that, if any?

Thanks!

This thread tells how to do hard reset of T2. Should return to original firmware that was on the reader. You will have to register your reader again to your old account. It will want to update to latest firmware.

How many books do you have loaded onto your reader and external SD card? I have more than 2000 public domain books on SD card. Must turn off display of covers for library or reader will freeze trying to handle that many covers.

Thanks so much!

Should one take out the SD card before hard reset?

I have over 3000 books on my SD card so maybe that is the reason why the reader gets sluggish! Turning off the cover display seems like a very good advise and I will surely try it.

Will get back here after trying everything...

You can do factory reset with external SD card installed or removed. Should not affect books side loaded on SD card. Sometimes books just side loaded on external SD card that have problems preventing reader processing that book and all others waiting to be processed into library. This is when removing SD card might allow reader to boot properly. Format the SD card or delete books just added then add books back to SD card in small batches to find the problem book.
