Since when is Sigil automattically clean up nbsp? I never seen that behaviour...

Since 0.7.1, at least for me. They all disappear when I open an epub. I haven't seen it before.

The nbsp issue should be sorted. Since Book View converts all nbsp characters to spaces, all nbsp characters are converted to & nbsp ; entities. Do you have a sample epub with just one file before its loaded into Sigil that shows what you mean - or screenshots of before/after text?

I am fighting with tables and it would be nice to strip all of the alignment data just out of one table to see what happens. I would not have formatted things this way, but I don't have the original to just put in images of the @#$#$ things, so I am stuck with I have to work with.

One other suggestion, if feasible and not much work: A function that would eliminate links outside the epub. It would need to be used with caution for those who imported work full of such links that should really point inside.
Showing the link target in book view might be possible. Will check.

Removing outside links could probably be done with regex looking for http:...

The most recent S/R changes seem to have eliminated picking up the companion </a> if you do a simple search and replace with nothing.

I have been experimenting with searching for the whole thing, </a> included, but have not yet been entirely successful. I end up having to do multiple searches for what seem to me to be the exact same thing. This is no doubt a reflection of my regex ignorance more than anything.

Yes, the replace is no longer preceded or followed by a clean automatically - you search on exactly what you see and are left with exactly what you replaced. You can save to automatically clean - if you set the option to clean on save - or just right-click in code view and select reformat HTML.

You should use a regex that includes the trailing tag and remove it. I'm sure you can get a few tips here.

I've been thinking about a search replace that is more tag/class focussed as an extra, but not anytime soon if at all.

Actually, it is the & nbsp ; entities that are disappearing (sorry, I should have been clearer) - in the code they are just totally removed. It happened with several different files, before I decided to revert back to an older version of Sigil. The epubs were created by Calibre - never had any problems in the past, but that doesn't mean the two aren't playing nicely now

I have a problem in showing the cover in the book view.
in former versions it was shown correctly - with the right proportions - in the 7.1 it's shown smaller and higher - like towel
please, can it be changed in future versions?

Yes, that's most likely. But it could also be incorrect tags/css. Well, maybe not incorrect, but less flexible tags. The 'unlimited' height of an html page may also cause a problem.

What code is used for the images?

@meme
it's the code by Atlantisword for the cover -

<title>Titelblatt</title>
</head>

<body>
<p class="p0"><img alt="cover.jpg" src="../Images/cover.jpg" style="height:100%;max-width:100%" /></p>
</body>

I hope, that's a bug - in all former versions it was ok, and in the picture are the same file opened at once...

height="100%" is often risky and undefined. And with that code, if it worked as intended, and if the screen is narrower than the image, you'd get some distortion (maybe that's what's happening here).

An other solution (used in the Sigil User Guide btw) that seems to work correctly is:

Code:
<svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" height="100%" preserveAspectRatio="xMidYMid meet" version="1.1" viewBox="0 0 600 800" width="100%" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">
      <image height="800" width="600" xlink:href="../Images/cover.png"></image>
with height="800" and width="600" corresponding to the real size of the native image.

Sigil 7.1 has crashed on my 2007 MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) every time I've tried to launch it. Not so on the Windows partition of my netbook; I'll try installing on a later MBP running Mountain Lion later tonight, when I'm at my grillfiend's place.

For those who want to delete the sigil-ebook file and own a Mac, this is the path:

[Name of Boot Drive]\Library\Application Support\sigil-ebook

Here's the message I get when I try to launch:
Quote:

The error report appears below.

10.6 hasn't been supported for the last few versions. Sigil WILL NOT WORK with 10.6.
