OnlineScreensaver Hack wget issue
Hi there,
I'm new to this board but I'm already using the information for a long time. I've been using a black K4NT for about a year with MKK, KUAL, ScreenSaver Hack and OnlineScreensaver. But somehow the function died without any reason to me. I spent now two days resetting, reinstalling, reconfiguring without any success. For me it looks like wget, whih is used in Online Screensaver, cannot acceess "the world" anymore. Installing Screensaver will show me the new image, but the job which should copy the image from the webserver is not working anymore. Can that have a relation with the 4.1.3 update? I can find a wget access log sometimes in the webserver log but it shows a incorrect size to me? Code:
192.168.178.154 - - [18/Nov/2015:21:11:02 +0100] "GET /KindleDisplay_SZ.png HTTP/1.1" 200 28725 "-" "Wget" But I'm even not sure if it's a wget problem anymore... I'm running out of ideas honestly.. Hope someone here is having some more? Thanks, Markus |

Does that mean you have applied the 4.1.3 update?
Or are you asking if the 4.1.3 update is required? "not working" does not give us much information to go on. Enter a wget command in the shell then post the command and any messages output. Cut and Paste please (or redirect to a file and attach the file). Last edited by knc1; 11-18-2015 at 04:38 PM. |

Show the URL or IP address you are accessing, If URL, have you changed anything that would effect DNS lookup? - - - - - Please just shell into your Kindle, enter the command you expect to work, then copy and paste **EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER** of the command and the output(s). Wait more than long enough for any DNS lookups to expire. |

Have you made any changes to the iptables entries of the Kindle?
How did you reach the Kindle command line? terminal on the Kindle? telnet? (over USB or wifi?) ssh? (over USB or wifi?) |

I guess there isn't a terminal application for the K4. = = = = = The earlier information you posted makes it look like the output is alright outbound from the Kindle but the replies are being blocked. That means "broken" iptables relative to when it was working. And you didn't do it. So the other choices are: Something about the on-line screensaver hack has been broken - Or The OTA update to 4.1.3 broke them. They are not completely broken, because USB networking isn't bein blocked in-bound or out-bound. That is normal, the USB cable doesn't (normally) have any firewall protections. I am not familar with the on-line screensaver hack, so I don't know what it does or expects to be done with the Wifi firewall. You'll need to examine that scripting yourself. |
