^Sadness.
My son and I have been listening to Vince Guaraldi's music from Charlie Brown (Skating, Linus and Lucy.) I am trying to learn to play them better because he loves them. |

If all you know of Big Freedia is the snippet from Beyonce's Formation, you should watch this.

This is Bonerama with a song inspired by a famous New Orleans street vendor. Also, bonus for those of you (most, I would think) who don't know what a real New Orleans accent sounds like. That's my friend Debbie's husband, Matt on the tuba!

A pretty faithful cover of a Del Shannon tune -- and a fun video, too!

Preamble: Back in 1972 I had a summer job as a security escort on cash collections in the South Bronx. This was the time of "Fort Apache, the Bronx" -- the 41st police precinct -- and the 41st was in my territory.
To get to the job from my suburban NJ home I took a short stretch of I-80 until it ended (the Interstate didn't yet reach the George Washington Bridge) and then took US Route 46 the rest of the way to the Hudson. Rte 46 was a heavily commercial highway with lots of traffic lights and lots of stop-and-go traffic. And one place that I remember in particular -- a mostly paved lot crowded with bird baths, sundials, and various garden statues and ornaments. This was the Fountains of Wayne store in Wayne, NJ. In later years the Fountains of Wayne would be featured on The Sopranos. It also was adopted as the name of an alt-rock group in the 90s. The best known Fountains of Wayne song is probably Stacy's Mom, but I have always liked Hackensack. Last edited by cromag; 02-22-2016 at 06:57 PM. |
