According to the International Digital Publishing Forum (idpf) and the Association of American Publishers (AAP), E-Book sales have continued to show growth in an overall struggling industry, with more than 200% increase compared to last year.

These figures only show part of the picture (see below) however they are extremely encouraging and tend to confirm that E-Books are finally coming into their own. Quote:

Can you believe Dutch publishers, in a yearly study, put ebooks as number 1 in the top 3 of futureless developments?

How can you throw out ebooks being number 1 and not mention 2 or 3? C'mon, you've got me curious now. What are the other ones?

I'm afraid my Kindle purchases were largely responsible for this trend - esp. after I got my K2 in Q3 2008. Just can't stop punching that "Buy Now With One-Click" button! P.S. I'm not Dutch |

Seriously though, didn't the Oprah show air in Q3 2008 - which led to the K1 sell-out? Presumably all those folks bought books too.

Thank God that I do not have a Kindle... or I would be paying his room service bill.

H'm... A little more snooping suggests that e-books are taking up a big chunk of the market; Kindle books alone made up 10% of all book sales in Q1 2009.
Not sure what percent of revenues is ebooks, though.... Last edited by Kali Yuga; 06-10-2009 at 10:07 PM. Reason: fixed url |
