Fix Kobo corrupt database

Is there a calibre related tool that lets you fix/rebuild a broken database on the Kobo Glo' e-reader?

Unfortunately not; some folks have had success by doing a database reorganization via the VACUUM sqlite command which in effect dumps and reloads the database.

Is this procedure described anywhere — such as in one of the forum's sticky threads? I would imagine I would have to back up some of the device's files (or the entire user FAT partition...) to my laptop's hard drive before I attempt anything like this?

Thanks!

The simplest thing to do is get my Kobo Utilities plugin. It has lots of functions including a database backup and compress.

Otherwise, you just need to run VACUUM against the database. That needs a way to do it. And SQLite database manager will let you run to command or have a menu option for it. There has been discussion on this in the Kobo forum, though not for a while.
