302's glare?
I keep reading that the 302's screen is, supposedly, almost like a mirror, with significant glare - or, at least, that it was the case with preview models, but that the screens would be replaced with better ones later.
Does anyone know more about that? If I were to order a 302 from e.g. pocketgoods.de, would I be getting a model with a lot of glare or one with an improved screen? |

Yar-PocketBooker said he would announce it here when the new readers are in with matte screens for those of us waiting to order those.

Since the 302 is apparently being sold already - and, as I understand it, right now it's the version with the reflective screen everywhere - this really should be addressed.
While I don't expect it to happen, the proper way to do it would be to make it clear which models come with the non-reflective screens, e.g. by naming them "302+" or at least making sure that it's otherwise clearly and visibly mentioned - on the body, or at least on the box. Otherwise, if I order the 302, I'll really have no guarantee that what I'm clicking on will be the updated model with the proper screen. |

Well, i know that the matte screens will be available in some weeks and the antiglare sheets are fairly good (even if i was not able to install it air bubble-free) but i'm really surprised about some responses here. Imho a very glary screen is not a "non-issue" and it should has been addressed before mass-production was started. Anyway, with a good(!) matte screen the device could become one of my favoured reading devices. |

Speaking as someone who has no emotional investment in the 302, I have to say that the screen doesn't bother me either. I really have no reason not to abandon the 302 (if the screen bothered me), and I'm still using it. P.S. Coming from me, the above is a ringing endorsement. It is a little bit difficult to take pictures in this light conditions. So I could not set the sharpeness correctly. But, as you can see - no reflections in my particular reading surrounding (in my bed tonight) Last edited by PocketGoods; 03-16-2010 at 09:16 PM. |

I want one of these. Bad!
It looks a lot more matte than my Sony 600. |
