Are you using "Send to Disk" or "Send to Device" to transfer your files? Collections are only created if you use "Send to Device".

Then, is there a way to get it to recognize my device? It does not recognize it's connected when I tried this last night.
Also, I assume that if I default 'send to device' to send to 'memory A (or B)' it should save the files to the memory card instead. Is that correct? I have too many files for my reader to hold. Will this still save the collections?

Yes - as long as the device is seen so you can use "Send to Device" it does not matter if you use main memory or one of the card slots the Collections are set up. I have a 8GB card fitted to my PRS-505 which is a LOT more books than can fit in main memory

The device should be seen by Calibre as long as the drives are seen and mounted by the OS - this is normally automatic so it is not clear why it is not working for you. You can run a diagnostic test (as described in the User Manual) to get diagnostics on what is happening at the Calibre USB interface level. Note that you must NOT have the Sony software running at the same time as it will interfer with Calibre.

The way I read this, it found my device as a drive, but it does not find it as a connected device. In fact, I don't even see it looking for the prs-600. I know I've seen this before in the forums but have not seen anything as a resolution. My reader firmware is the most recent version. I have the driver selected in preferences,device interface.

Weird. What comes to mind (really not sure if it's relevant):
- does your computer recognise the reader as drive?
- have you installed the driver on the computer?
- have you tried different USB slots?

Sorry for the very non-technical approach.

Here's what it reads now, but still says no device connected when I try to send to device, either main memory or memory card slot.
At least it's finding the reader now!

Yep, that's what I thought, too. I was doing that with a dummy library at work (windows 95). Came home and adjusted everything on my home computer---whammo! Works great on Windows 7.

I knew it was something I was doing wrong.
BTW, Kovid your software is really going to simplify my life and I am so happy I dumped Sony Library. Believe it or not...I had one program to download books, two to convert (depending on format), and then had to do the run around with loading it into the library then syncing it to the library. I'm down to just my download program and Calibre now.
So a special thanks to you and creating software that really works.
