Log file not being generated?

I have got shell access set up correctly and can use mvxrt. I have downloaded wpatch.zip and have unzipped it onto a folder on my cf card (path Applications/wpatch)

I open the Applications/wpatch folder on my Iliad and click "installdebug.sh". The green LED flashes a few times and the content lister refreshes.

I go to the device manager screen open Iliad Profiles and attempt to connect to my wireless profile unsuccessfully.

I can't see a wireless.txt file anywhere.

I open mrvxt and type

vi /mnt/free/Documents/wireless.txt enter.

It opens a blank document (line 1 of 1)

Am I doing something wrong?

Edit:

When I follow the instructions in the original post (vi /usr/bin/wireless.sh). I can see the WaitFor method and the value is still set to 4 not 15 so I guess the install is not replacing the file correctly?

I am not familiar with the vi editor though. Any instructions on how to use it?

Well an update:
Nothing has been solved.
No frigging wireless.txt ever found in /documents.
Iliad never connects to any wifi router i have. I have 3 running, and the new IX67 and the new Zyxel wifi adsl modem both do not work with WPA.
Not even with WEP.
Only if security is completely disabled, then I connect wifi.
There is something severely fucked up with the iliad. And I am not the only one.
A full wipe and reflash did not fix it at all.

Unsecure WiFi is not an alternative for me. And putting the dumb tarvel charger and then ethernet cable system sucks bigtime.

It is out of warranty now. So I am fucked.
And yes SOME routers work fine...but not the ones I have obviously.

I am lost..I do not know what to do now.

Are you trying to connect to iDS or Computer? You might be successfully connecting to the network, but not the destination (both report a failed connection, which is confusing).

Have you tried connecting to iDS/Computer with a wired connection to make sure you have your credentials right?

I said before, that I am able to connect to IDS when the wifi has NO security switched on.
The moment WEP or WPA is selected, it fails.
And yes. I checked the keys to ensure that there is no error in the password for wireless security. It is correct.

Something is seriously broken with my Iliad wifi.
And the fact that technobear's patch is not even working nor generating a debug file. I guess it is not working at all to install it.

How to use vi?

Problem is trying to use mrxvt's vi to modify a file. Screen updates are problematic leading to errors. However when I try to exit without saving I then realise there is no Esc key? No ctrl key either. So how do I return to command mode? Thanks.

When you start mrxvt, a help-screen is displayed. There you can see what the escape-key is.

Help screen up ...

... as I installed xshell. Used vi to modify "rip=..." in wireless.sh. Still no connectivity with wireless router BUT now have experience using vi to edit. Learning something new is always worthwhile. Tnx.
