Freud, Sigmund: Three Contributions to the Theory of Sex, v.1, 30 June 2008.

Sigmund Freud (1856-1939)
Translated by Abraham Arden Brill (1874-1948).
Three Contributions to the Theory of Sex
Drei Abhandlungen zur Sexualtheorie (1905)
Second Edition (1920)
Authorized Translation by A.A. Brill, Ph.B., M.D.
With Introduction by James J. Putnam, M.D.

The three essays are:
I. The Sexual Aberrations
II. The Infantile Sexuality
III. The Transformation of Puberty
Freud argues that children are sexual creatures. Infants are born with polymorphous perversity and their libido passes through oral, anal, phallic and latent stages before reaching adult genital sexuality.
The theory was extremely controversial when first published, and has since been extensively criticised by feminists, gay people, and those who consider the scientific methodology to be inadequate.
